Stone's Throw Ministry

About Gina

Gina Calvert is a preacher's daughter who became a preacher's wife at the age of 19. In her twenties, she divided her time between supporting her husband in ministry, parenting her first child, Katrina, experimenting with many mediums of art and engaging in extensive self-education on the subject of marriage, psychology, and more. She also worked as the managing editor and regular columnist of a woman's magazine.

Gina didn't know her spirituality was shallow until personal failure changed the course of her life forever. The pain she endured drove her to seek God as she never had before, and to her surprise, she found Him in unexpected places.The next decade was busy: Gina and her husband Steve began the healing from the crucible they had endured. They adopted two children. She began working as The Scrapbook Fairy, creating custom archival scrapbooks professionally.

In the next decade, a unique biblical insight Gina discovered led to a lifestyle change that plunged her into a personal ministry to those suffering from binding religious roots, depression and marital difficulties. Not long after, Gina sensed God calling her to write. A complete stranger on an airplane confirmed--out of the blue--that she was to write a book. From Gravel to Glory was written 20 months later!

Gina and Steve celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in July 2009. Their oldest daughter Katrina is a graphic designer who lives in Dallas. She designed the cover of From Gravel to Glory. Remaining at home are Danica, age 16, and Jared, age 14. Besides scrapbooking, writing and ministering, Gina loves reading and learning, watching movies and attending her kids' games. She and Steve minister at The Branch in Carrollton, TX. They live in Coppell.

STONE'S THROW PHILOSOPHY

Stone's Throw Ministry grew out of the publishing of Gina's book, as she discovered a love of sharing publicly the insight that has changed her life. She chose the name Stone's Throw because she knows from firsthand experience how close we all are at any given moment to a realization that will change our lives. No matter how far God seems, Acts 17:27 tells us that he is not far off from each one of us. All it takes is a little information and the courage to see, and suddenly, we find harmony.

Stones have frequently been used to convey the concept of harmony..........

Gina is fascinated with stones because they made sense of years of personal defeat, emotional difficulty, physical illness, marriage problems, and church ministry conflict.

It started when she began to contemplate what the Bible means when it says we're temples of God (1 Cor. 3:16).In her book, From Gravel to Glory, Gina uses the biblical tabernacle and temple to explain that being a temple of God is about:

    * An invitation into a relationship with God

    * Access to the power always found in God's dwelling places

    * A deconstruction: "not one stone left upon another"

    * Seeing Jesus

Perhaps that third one alarms you, but here's the truth: You're going through deconstruction anyway! Wouldn't you like to know what it all means and how you can leverage it for maximum benefit?

Through Jesus' prophecy of the destruction of the Jerusalem temple, Gina has learned to connect the dots between:

What is happening PHYSICALLY  ~  How it is being labeled MENTALLY ~
 What is being felt EMOTIONALLY ~ and What God is doing with it SPIRITUALLY!

Whether you're struggling with:

    * self-esteem issues                          * depression                * anxiety
    * relationship problems                     * physical illness           * bondage to religious roots
    * ETC...

Gina has one goal:
To provide affordable and practical help in connecting the circumstances in your life to what God is doing with it spiritually, to enable you see Jesus where you never expected to see him, and find the harmony your soul is crying out for!

Austrian Holocaust survivor Victor Frankl wrote that "when suffering achieves meaning, it ceases to be suffering." It's time to take the step to end your confusion and pain and find out what God is doing in your life (and especially through your struggles and pain) so you can experience the harmony you were meant to enjoy.
